'MAKE TIME FOR PHOTOGRAPHY' COURSE

I’ve been teaching photography at all levels for many years, and the one comment I hear more than any other is how hard it is to actually find the time (and sometimes the motivation) to go out and take photographs. Day to day life can easily get in the way, and your friends and family may not share your passion for heading out with a camera - meaning that photography often gets pushed to the bottom of the ‘to do’ list, however much you might be inspired on day one. Yes, you might love the process, and the idea of it, but it’s not always obvious to decide where to go or what to shoot. Which is where my helpful and flexible ‘Make Time for Photography’ course comes in!

Course overview

  • Six modules of your choice, choosing from 10 different options such as landscape, portraits, night photography, black & white and so on, plus off-auto and post processing

  • Can be carried out over up to 12 months, so you don’t have to complete one a month

  • Covers everything from beginner level to advanced skills, including image editing

  • 1 hour face-to-face initial session – in person or on Zoom

  • Helpful critique, in writing, on your six chosen images for each module

  • Optional half hour Zoom session to kick off each new module

  • Ongoing help and advice via Messenger, What’sApp or email - for ad hoc support

How it works

This course enables you to plan around photography during the month, so that you not only to find time for taking photographs, but can also develop your technical and artistic skills, and become more familiar with your camera equipment in the process. This is how it works:

"I have been so grateful for Gill’s help while I’m going through the process of learning photography. I love the modules on each subject area and I find them very easy to read and understand, as though I’m listening to her explaining it. The analogies she uses to explain particular settings and features also make perfect sense.

I’m starting to put the teaching into practise  and I’m really starting to bond with my new camera now, and enjoying getting out and about with it. Without Gill it would just be sat in the wardrobe! I’ve used my camera more in the time that Gill has been teaching me than in the whole time I’ve owned it. Thank you!

  1. We will kick off the course with an initial one hour Zoom call or in-person meeting (depending on location) where we can chat about your current level, the equipment you will be using, and what you’d like to get out of the session. We will also agree your first module, and discuss that as well.

  2. After the session, I will send you an initial module brief which contains full details on what you will be shooting, along with example images, and detailed advice on both the technical and compositional aspects of the subject. During the month, you can also ask me any questions you like by email, Messenger or What’sApp.

  3. On a date that we both agree, I will ask you to send me your Top 6 images for that module as full resolution jpeg files (we can agree a method for this that works for you – such as WeTransfer or Dropbox) with details of the settings used, and any other information that will help me to understand why you shot it, and why you chose the settings that you did.

  4. I will then review your images and provide written feedback on each one, both in terms of the technical aspects and the compositional side of things as well. The idea of this is that it helps you to learn for the following module, and to gradually build up your photographic skills. I may also send you my suggested edits of your images, if you are happy for me to do, and where I feel that it would be beneficial.

  5. One each module is complete, we will then set up the next Zoom session, where we can discuss your previous images as well as the next module. These Zoom sessions are of course optional, and if you prefer, we can communicate on email instead – the choice is up to you.

  6. During each module, I am very happy for you to contact me via Messenger, What’sApp or email, to ask questions or request advice.

How to book

If you are interested in booking onto the course, please email gill@gillprince.com, and feel free to ask me any questions that you may have. The total cost is £360.00 – which works out at £60 per module, or £30 per month if you take the full 12 months to complete it. This is payable in advance by bank transfer – and then once this has been received, we can set up our kick-off call or meeting, and you can start thinking about which module you’d like to begin with!

The ’Make Time for Photography’ course can also be booked as a Gift Voucher - please get in touch to arrange this. I can also add on extra modules after the initial six if you would like, at the time of booking or at any stage during the course, for an additional £60 each.
